A informação surge semanas depois
do ex-chefe da Fórmula 1 Bernie Ecclestone ter reconhecido que ele e o então presidente
da Federação Internacional do Automóvel (FIA) Max Mosley, tinham sido
informados de irregularidades ocorridas durante o Grande Prêmio de Singapura e
decidiram não fazer nada.
“Esclareço que não me
interessa o lado financeiro desta história, mas sim a justiça. Se as duas
pessoas mais poderosas, o chefe da Fórmula 1 e o chefe da FIA, o sabiam em 2008
e calaram-se, é muito grave e inadmissível para o esporte”, afirmou Massa
em entrevista ao Globoesporte...
No centro do escândalo está a
manobra da equipe Renault, cujos dirigentes teriam dado ordens ao piloto
brasileiro Nelson Piquet Jr. (Nelsinho Piquet) para provocar um acidente e
obrigar assim à saída do safety-car.
Esta situação abriu a porta à
recuperação de Fernando Alonso, que ganhou a corrida, deixando ainda Massa sem
pontuar...
Nelsinho Piquet confessou o caso
meses depois à FIA, que expulsou o chefe da Renault na época Flavio Briatore e
o diretor da equipe Pat Symonds, inocentando Piquet e Alonso.
